The Melbourne Museum is set to host a physical LEGO event that is definitely worth pinning on the calendar. The venue is bringing in the LEGO Certified Professional Ryan “Brickman” McNaught, who is responsible for assembling this 8-million LEGO brick composition, backed by local state officials.

The event has received support from the Premier Jacinta Allan and Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos, who visited the Melbourne Museum on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 to offer a preview of the upcoming interactive experience. The officials were in the presence of Darth Vader and several Storm Troopers that also attended the media preview, teasing the big release next week.

The LEGO Star Wars: The Exhibition is set for May 4, 2025 which celebrates Star Wars Day, known amongst fans as “May the Fourth Be With You,” a reference to the Star Wars franchise’s signature phrase, “May the force be with you.”

This epic meet-up between two of the world’s most potent cultural phenomena, i.e. LEGO and Star Wars, will see as many as 300,000 people potentially attending, with 7,000 tickets already sold in advance.

Brickman and his team used more than 8 million LEGO bricks to flesh out the event’s look, paying homage to the Star Wars franchise and the unique way of retelling its most prominent stories and bringing its characters to life through LEGO’s building components.

Preparations took 25,000 hours to complete, delivering a final result that is well worth seeing and offering fans and visitors of either LEGO or Star Wars, the opporunity to immerse themselves in a highly-polished and meticulously crafted environ.

Visitors will have a lot to see and do, being offered hands-on build activities and encouraged to bring to life their own favorite moments and characters from the Star Wars franchise with the available bricks on-site.

Fans have much to look forward to. The media preview showed a C-3PO built from pearl gold and metallic silver bricks, along with a two-meter-high rotating Death Star which will captivate fans of the Star Wars universe and instill a sense of awe in lookers-on, but the artistry goes well beyond that with hundreds of small scenes caputring beloved moments from the franchise in LEGO bricks nature mort.

Yet, the display areas are even more captivating with popular on-screen and spin-off characters such as IG-11. All exhibits are displayed with a plaque that gives their backstory and informs burgeoning Star Wars LEGO fans about what they are seeing at any one time.  Some of the characters will be caught in epic battles, complete with lightning effects, including a duel between Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul.

Star Wars has been a huge driver of success in LEGO’s own corporate growth, with the collaboration, which originally started in 1999, proving to be an important focal point of the two companies’ commercial focus.

As to building the whole presentation, McNaught himself admitted that the 2.6-meter-high model of General Grievous, as seen in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, proved to be the most challenging model to recreate, owing to the character’s unique geometry and dimensions.

LEGO Group Troy Taylor has himself acknowledged the significance of this collaboration, saying: “I wouldn’t think that the LEGO brand would be what it is today, if it wasn’t for Star Wars and the collaboration way back 25 years ago. “

LEGO fans who will attend the event need not just stare, as they can build their own LEGO laser sabers and participate in duels. The event is the first of its scale to be hosted by the LEGO Group.

The official event opens doors at the Melbourne Museum in Victoria, Australia, on May 4, 2025.
