You may not be a LEGO City fan per se, but the series packs so much play value that it is hard to resist. Parents who wish to introduce their children to LEGO start with Duplo, but Creator 3-in-1 and City are often excellent follow-ups owing to their depth, variety, and playability.

The LEGO City summer 2025 sets have now been detailed in full by the LEGO Group, which is nine new additions to the line. Without further ado, let’s sink our teeth into each set and see what is on offer for the release date on August 1.

Arctic Truck (60471) is the first set in the new summer series, featuring an articulated truck with 6-wheel suspension, deep-tread tires, and a rotating rooftop observatory. The set includes five minifigures, explorers and scientists, equipped with gear like a snowmobile, research charts, and a crate of supplies.

Adding to the adventure, the set comes with three Arctic wolf figures—a mother and two pups—plus a bit of snowy scenery to inspire imaginative play.

The truck’s roof lifts off to reveal a detailed interior, complete with a driver’s cabin, a control room for scientific work, a toilet, a small entertainment lounge, and a dining area. The set could add to the Arctic Explorer Ship (60368) for a more complete collection and even better play value.

With 1,064 pieces and a retail price of $119.99, this set offers a rich building and play experience for fans of Arctic exploration.

If you’re looking to bring a bit of Arctic scenery to your summer, the Explorer Train (60470) delivers just that. This massive set includes 1,517 pieces and will retail for $209.99. It comes complete with 30 pieces of train track, a toy mountain tunnel with a rockfall function, an outpost building, and a mining cave.

Wildlife returns in the form of two Arctic fox figures, while six minifigures—including Johnny Thunder (yes, the boy is back!) and five explorers—are featured in dynamic roles: skiing, maintaining tracks, snapping photos, or rushing off to their next mission.

The set includes a remote-controlled locomotive, passenger car, and flatcar to elevate the play experience. A small caveat: it requires 10 x LR03 (AAA) batteries, which are not included.

Inside, the train is packed with detail, and the flatcar allows for cargo loading and unloading—like a snowmobile. There’s even a working zipline that lets minifigs travel between the different structures found around the tracks. All in all, the Explorer Train (60470) combines immersive scenery and strong play value, making it a standout addition to the Arctic theme.

The set comes complete with seven minifigs — passengers, station workers, and a baby figure — along with a couple of pigeons to add to the theme of the set.

Players have plenty of detail to take in, such as the clock tower at the very top and a maintenance railcar lifting a worker with a wrench to fix the lighting above the main arch.

The station is packed with fine touches, including a lounge where minifigs can grab a bite to eat if they still have time before their next train, as well as a signaling system for the trains, modern benches, time schedules, and a cash register where LEGO minifigs can pick up a cup of coffee.

Yet, there’s more — a working elevator takes you up to a control room where a dispatcher is hard at work monitoring the trains’ comings and goings and ensuring that the signaling and rail-switching systems are in order.

Three minifigs represent the garage crew, making sure police vehicles run smoothly and at full throttle. Meanwhile, a police officer fittingly treats himself to a nearby table laid out with doughnuts, holding a mug of coffee.

The back wall is stocked with wheel rims, tires, and various diagnostic equipment for tackling any problems the vehicle might have. With 489 pieces and a price tag of $54.99, this set makes an excellent addition to your LEGO City collection.

One standout feature is that the police boat floats, making it perfect for water-based play.
