The Minimoog Analog Synthesizer has become the 55th project to garner 10,000 votes and make it into the first 2025 review of LEGO Ideas. The project, submitted by LEGO fan and creator eob1998, finally made the cut on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, jumping several hundred votes over a few days to reach the threshold.
This particular LEGO Ideas set is inspired by the original synthesizer’s incredible commercial journey. It was the first model to be sold in retail stores for over 13 years, totaling 12,000 units sold and debuting in 1970. The LEGO fan build seeks to do justice to the original, capturing its unique feel and retro look.
This is not a fully monolithic piece, meaning that there are plenty of opportunities for you to explore the build up close, even after you have finished and displayed it. You can pry open the control panel to see the recreation of the electronics inside, rotate the knobs and pitch wheels, and enjoy pushable keys and other gamification elements that bring this set together.
The synthesizer is actually at a 1:1 scale ratio, and it’s a faithful recreation of the original item. Creator eob1998 has put a lot of meaning into creating this set, as he is himself an avid music listener and a self-professed amateur producer.
He wanted to create a LEGO Ideas set that was fully representative of his passion. Besides, the synthesizer has huge value across a number of genres of music, including jazz, pop, rock, disco, and many more.
The set was originally submitted on December 2, 2024, and immediately caught the attention of LEGO fans worldwide, especially those who love bringing Ideas sets to life.
The Minimoog Analog Synthesizer is one of two LEGO Ideas sets to have garnered 10,000 votes on Tueday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30 when the Halloween House was approved, and to have qualified for the first review stage.
